Pricing Info

When I discuss working with a writer, I first evaluate the manuscript of readiness for the editing process. This consists of a first glance taking approximately an hour and I charge $25 (CAD) for my time. In return you will receive up to one page of editing and/or an explanation of whether your manuscript is at a minimum standard to go forward with (a firm understanding of punctuation, spelling, paragraph structure, etc). After this, we can both decide whether we wish to continue working together.

Each type of editing has its own pass, and are charged separately. My fee is five cents per word for a single pass in a single type of editing*. Half the payment is to be up front, and the second half is expected upon completion. If you wish to employ my services for multiple passes and/or more than one kind of editing, I will return the manuscript for revisions between each pass.

In the likelihood I ask the writer to complete a style sheet, all editing will cease until it is completed and returned to me. Should the writer fail to fulfil this obligation in due time, I reserve the right to not resume work on the manuscript and be paid until that point.

If I find a manuscript is not up to the expected level believed at the time of evaluation, I reserve the right to cease editing and be paid for my work until that point. At such a time I let the writer know if I am willing to resume work on the manuscript should the writer wish to make further revisions before sending it back.

Should the manuscript still not be up to a minimum standard after the writer had the opportunity for revisions, I will notify the writer immediately. Should we both decide to continue forward despite this, the fee increases to ten cents per word. I maintain a right to end the process at any point and be paid for my time.

Line Editing looks at paragraphs, sentence structure, and word use (ensures sentences make sense, no overused words, etc).
Copy Editing corrects spelling and punctuation.
