Resolution Update – February

newyearsresolution_stockAt the beginning of the year I always have good intentions to jumpstart my life and do all the things I meant to do the year before but never actually got around to. This year I plotted and planned and charted with the hope I would find a way to finally get things done. I now have a schedule, tick off my daily and monthly To-Do lists, and intend to use my blog to hold myself accountable and keep motivated. I have dreams and aspirations, so there is no time like the present to achieve them!

Bookstagram: Though I planned to take a bunch of photos on my first bit of time off, I discovered my batteries had died since the last time I used my camera. Needless to say, the photos did not get done until my next day off with decent natural light. This caused me to have more pictures than I could post for the rest of the month, all from the series I am currently reading, so I may have to retake half my pictures with next month’s theme.

Facebook&Twitter: I finally connected my booksta to my fb page (which was just as neglected), but only popped on twitter on the rare occasion. However, I have thrown together an unofficial logo to use on both social media platforms to create some consistency until I can get a real one designed.

Book Blog:  This month I was lucky enough to get an ARC and did three posts featuring that novel (one being a review). But because the release date was in the first week, I felt the rest of the month was a little empty… until there was online publishing drama and I was able to write my thoughts about it to add more posts to the end of the month. And, in bigger news, a coworker offered to create a new website with my own domain name! Check it out here: www.jkbooklover.com

Writing:  I started out the month with a bang by writing a couple new scenes, but then got distracted quickly thereafter. By midweek I was dealing with crazy shifts at work and overtime, becoming ill from the exhaustion, and still recuperating towards the end of the month.

Exercise: When my work schedule has late morning starts I can exercise before getting ready for the day, but if I have an early shift the only exercise I get is walking to and/or from work. As for my days off… well, even God took a day of rest!

Sleep: The start of the month I had been having some difficulties staying asleep due to nightmares, and the tendency to stay up late reading on my days off didn’t help. By mid-month I was lucky to get enough sleep due to my work schedule. Towards the end of the month I was sleeping up to ten hours a night trying to kick the virus I caught when my immune system was weak from the sleep deprivation.

Community: Right now I only regularly check maybe four people’s social media  on instagram or facebook, while twitter only got noticed when something major happened. I haven’t even looked at anyone’s blogs. With the new website I’m hoping to create a bit of brand consistency between my own social media platforms, but I know I need to make more of an outreach effort.

How are you doing with your goals for this month?
